Does the WSP Final Exam Matter?

2020 Update: NEW WSO Financial Modeling Package Released Here

Hey,

I am currently busy with the WSP Premium package self-study. I wan't to take the certified exam. I was wondering if you get multiple choice questions based on excel calculation or just the theory (for example what is meant with acquisition debt, calculate working capital, etc.) throughout the whole package? Because the exam is based on 53 Multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours to complete, I guess that they will not ask you to build models.

Is it a difficult exam (I am doing it online) and how long does it took you to complete the exam?

Please, at the IB forum they wont reply, so I was hoping that someone in this forum will.

Should I Study for the Wall Street Prep Certification Exam?

Our users generally feel that the WSP final exam is not terribly meaningful and your score will in no way affect your standing at your firm (if you are doing this for formal training) and will in no way impact your ability to be hired if you are taking it independently. The real benefit of WSP is going through the videos and working along with them as you go in the hopes of retaining as much as possible.

Financial Modeling Training Course

Does anyone care about/pay attention to how people do on these exams?

Nobody even paid attention to my scores in the official training program our firm put on with two Columbia professors/former traders.

Relax man. There are good things to lose sleep over and bad things to lose sleep over. Grab a couple beers, chill and watch a Yankees game, and get some sleep- knowing that how you do on the exam probably matters little more than that 0 point math pre-test you took in linear algebra.

You are totally right.

But I just want to know on what things to focus for the exam is it more theoretical (so make calculations and definitions, etc.) or does the exam focus more on making a model in excel and ask questions about it. So if someone, who has done the exam, can tell me that I would be pleased.

No. I respect Patrick deeply and hope he sells as much of whatever he's trying to sell his website, but many industry folks on this forum think that any employee-paid Wall Street training is a waste of time. The few people who've taken the exam probably won't remember that much.

STOP OBSESSING. Have a beer- make that more like four or five- take some St. John's wort, and stop worrying. If you need to worry about something, read up on that new Chinese missile- it's more of a concern for your long-term career goals than that darned exam.

Yes, maybe it is a complete waste of time. I can't tell you. This has nothing to do with obsession. This has to do with the fact that I chose for this training so I am fully committed to complete it as best as I can. If I chose for this course with the thought that it does not matter if I pass or don't I wouldn't have started with this in the first place.

So if someone has some information about the exam.
