Please let all your Christmas agression out on this IB cover letter :)

What do you monkeys think of this cover letter? I am not a native speaker so sry for some of the phrasing!

Thanks

Dear blablabla

I am currently a student at the xxxxx and will graduate in 2014 with a degree in finance and management. During my internship at a M&A boutique, I work in the same building as xxxxx’s Frankfurt office and had lunch with some of its employees. I was impressed by what I learned about xxxxx’s feedback driven culture, world class Analyst Program and how, due to its small deal teams analyst get more responsibility and therefor gain more experience. My past internships in the field of Merger & Acquisition and my strong work ethics enable me to be a good fit for an Investment Banking Summer Analyst position at xxxx.

Recently, I completed internships in M&A and financial service consulting. During this time, I worked on projects ranging from researching potential buyers for a client in the clothing industry based on their financial profiles, geographies, and management teams to performing quantitative analysis (mainly valuation) and participating in restructuring the payment services of a large German bank. In addition to sharpening my leadership ability, I gained valuable analytical, modeling, and finance skills. I am currently working on an entrepreneurial project to evaluate social media sentiments and compare them to stock price changes. In addition, in January I will start an internship in the Markets & Treasury Solutions Division of Deutsche Bank.

Given my experience and training in Investment Banking, I am a good fit for the Investment Banking Summer Analyst position at xxxxxx. I am particularly impressed by your record of accomplishment with some of the most high profile and complex cross-border transactions, as well as the global reach and the significant responsibilities given to Analysts.

A copy of my resume is enclosed for your reference. I would welcome an opportunity to discuss my qualifications with you and learn more about xxxxx at your earliest convenience. I can be reached at +xxxxx or via email at xxxxxx. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Chris

better than the last one, but needs another 4 iterations to become a viable CL and thank god you got rid of "foray"

"After you work on Wall Street it’s a choice, would you rather work at McDonalds or on the sell-side? I would choose McDonalds over the sell-side.” - David Tepper

strong work ethics enable > strong work ethic enables. toss out the first sentence "i am currently a student..." everyone knows that from reading your resume.

"Recently, I completed internships in M&A and financial service consulting." > I recently completed internships in M&A and financial service consulting.

"Given my experience and training in Investment Banking, I am a good fit for the Investment Banking Summer Analyst position at xxxxxx. I am particularly impressed by your record of accomplishment with some of the most high profile and complex cross-border transactions, as well as the global reach and the significant responsibilities given to Analysts." - toss this or reword it so its half as short.

use M&A OR Mergers & Acquisitions for consistency.

a little wordy. but you have good experience. if you network you shouldn't have trouble finding a solid SA gig.

fuck it. i will just edit it from your version..hope this helps...

During my internship at a M&A boutique (I would list the name of the boutique), I worked in the same building as xxxxx’s Frankfurt office and had lunch with several bankers. I was impressed by what they had to say about xxxxx’s feedback driven culture (think of something else, this sounds stupid), world class Analyst Program and how, due to its small deal teams analyst get more responsibility and therefore gain more experience.

I recently completed internships in M&A and consulting. My projects included researching acquisition targets for a client in the clothing industry based on their financial profiles, geographies, and management teams, performing valuation and financial analysis, and participating in restructuring the payment services of a large German bank. In addition to sharpening my leadership ability, I gained valuable analytical, modeling, and finance skills. Starting this January I will be pursing an internship at Deutsche Bank's Markets & Treasury Solutions Division.

Given my experience and training in Investment Banking, I am a solid fit for the Investment Banking Summer Analyst position at xxxxxx. I am particularly impressed by your track record of accomplishment in high profile and complex cross-border transactions like [mention ONE deal].

Sincerely,

Chris
