Political Ideologies within Banks
Besides being a prospective monkey, I'm also a political nerd. In light of the hottest election, I'm just so curious about the political climate on the street. Do bankers care about the current national politics at all? Are bankers leaning toward conservative or progressive ideas? Thanks for reading.
If you averaged out the political leanings of Wall Street as a whole, the mean would probably fall at about or close to center-right. It makes sense for a lot of reasons - Wall Street being the shining beacon of capitalism, a higher "orderliness" personality trait on average among the hard-working Wall Street bankers [this personality trait has been shown to historically predict conservative political viewpoints], and the Finance industry in general having a pretty old school, "this is the way we've always done things" culture.
However there are obviously a wide range of political perspectives across the street and within each bank. For the most part, everyone gets along regardless of their ideology and people don't really discuss politics in the office. (Probably for the best!)
If Warren was elected, would it be a disaster for the street ? lol
