Positioning SS Equity Research Resume For Buy-Side?

All,

The goal here is to create a solid thread for sell-side equity research associates looking to make the jump to l/s equity funds and lo mutual funds. I find there is little on this topic relative to threads for experienced i-bankers looking to get into PE, VC, hedge funds, etc. If there is, pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

To start, I don't think the tips for i-bankers, specifically regarding work experience has much carry-over to equity research associates. For example, i-bankers are often involved in a finite number of deals and can draw pointed examples from those experiences. However, sell-side equity research associates write hundreds of reports and build/maintain operating models for 20+ companies. Therefore, I find it difficult to articulate my work experience, concisely, with just a few key examples as even deep dive research reports are frequent and showcase something new/different. Should I just pick a few? Do I keep the bullets more general? Any advice would be helpful and hopefully we can pass this thread along to future sell-siders looking to do the same. Thanks.
