Pre-Interview Happy Hour
Hey guys,
I have been invited to a pre-interview happy hour with a Houston IB and was just wondering what I should expect? Also is typically dress for these things a suit? This is my first ib interview.
Thanks for any input you may have.
Just be social, order one drink and hold it the entire time - no more. If you're under 21 do not drink. Don't talk about work/recruiting. This is a good opportunity to get a feel for the banks culture. Yes wear a suit. Tie depending on location of happy hour.
Seconded with what HEBanker said. This is your time to ask questions about the bank, culture, and hopefully make a personal connection with an interviewer. Remember to be professional. These are not your co-wokers (yet). Also, please don't be that kid who decides to bring up rising interest rates or what the Fed plans to do within the few months, etc.
In terms of attire, I'd be conservative and wear a suit. You can always take off the tie if it's a more business casual place.
What drink/cocktails to drink before IB interview? (Originally Posted: 07/08/2015)
I was thinking of JB on the rocks or an espresso martini. Is this done frequently ?
I suggest a Kalua mixed with Ballentine and a pinch of Barcardi 151.
Nothing like some cool moonshine to calm the nerves before an interview.
Everclear on the rocks
Absinthe on the rocks
At least 3 shots of Jameson, but no more than 5.
Depends whether you're the interviewer or the one being interviewed
