"Preferred Name"

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've posted on WSO!

A friend has a really hard to pronounce chinese name. Would it be advisable to use a preferred name on his application for a summer internship at bulge bracket?

Thanks in advance

I agree, absolutely do a preferred name. When he gives his ss# to hr he can fill them in on his real name then. Going by your middle name or a variant of your first name is fairly common so it's something they see often.
