Preparing for a strategy role
I've accepted an offer to join a small sell-side team working for the head of regional equity strategy. I have worked in equity research (not strategy) a few years back and will be rejoining the industry after a brief career change. I have a month or two before starting - what is the best way to prepare and brush up on skills? From what I've seen, strategy research can be pretty much anything (sometimes very quantitative...could be accounting-focused or fund flow-focused, sometimes artful synthesis of bottom-up views, sometimes highbrow journalistic writing). What are the core skills to focus on? Any good resources?
