Princeton ORFE Program (and others)
Hi, I'm a long time lurker of this forum, but this is my first post. I'm currently a junior undergrad at UC Berkeley, having done research in various OR topics, (e.g. algorithmic game theory, online optimization, etc.).
I will be interning at Citadel this summer as a quant intern - this was a hard choice against more research in the summer (last time before grad school apps).
I was wondering, does having interned as a quant help for admissions to PhD programs, like Princeton's ORFE, as well as other places? I'd like to perhaps do a PhD in various topics. Also, do math olympiads (USAMO from high school) count for anything in these types of applications?
Thanks!
anybody...? haha thanks :)
What are your other options?
I already picked Citadel and it's too late, but the other option was going to EPFL to do research with a well known professor - which is why I feel like I might've forfeited admissions to maybe a top tier grad school. I'm not sure if being a quant at Citadel helps with grad school applications.
Love UC Berkeley. Wow, what a campus. Top notch school, better than most Ivies, for sure.
I think it sure helps, but it really depends on your alternatives.
an industry intern will make you look attractive in business markets, now it's nobody's business to say though, whether this is better or something like a NSF/REU project.
