Private Bank Trading Desk to BB Equity Research

Hi Guys,

So currently I am in the Private Bank at a BB. I sit on the sales trading desk and cover semi institutional clients (think 200MM+). Basically we do a sales trading job, pitching ideas we get from the asset class strategists in our PB to our clients (all assets classes equity, fixed income, fx, derivatives, etc). However I want something more quantitative that is a lot more interesting and gives great fundamentals. Previously I interned in ER in the buyside. I am trying to make a move to ER at the same firm. Currently signed up for CFA and online modeling class. What do I need to do to break into ER? I am really looking to make a move now, and yes I know the industry is shrinking but I don't think ER will ever go completely away, especially my BB ER department.
Thanks!
