Private Equity Summer Analyst vs Full Time Recruiting
I've just accepted an offer for a top BB (think GS/MS/JPM) after my sophomore year (SA 2021), and I've started to think about what I want to do right out of college. Before this offer, I was quite set on going into IB right out of college, but with this offer, getting a MF PE analyst role after college now seems attainable and I know that's what I'd want to do after IB anyways.
I'm wondering whether it's best however to recruit for junior year internships and hope to convert that into a full-time role, or to work on converting my sophomore IB internship into a junior one and then recruit for PE full time. Do most MF PE interns convert? Are the 2 summers in IB more beneficial for learning? Do most MFs only recruit full-time anyways? All in all, is it best to recruit for PE full-time or as a summer analyst first?
I thought this would be a great place to get answers/opinions. Obviously my focus right now is just on enjoying college and performing well in my IB internship, but these are just things I'm thinking about right now.
