Private markets valuation analyst - pathway to PE/Banking?

A recruiter reached out to me about a "valuations analyst" role at a global private markets firm (~$100bn AUM). The role would literally be valuing assets under management including private equity, debt and real estate.

My first impression the role was geared towards bankers/PE analysts with existing valuation skillsets, but the guy said it's pretty much entry level targeted at people with 1-2 years in accounting or general finance (I've spent 2 years at a CRA). I assume they're deliberately not targeting bankers etc for this role because a) they're more expensive and b) they're already FO so why would they go MO.

Pay range was significantly higher than what I make right now but significantly lower than what people in banking/PE make.

My question is - could a role like this segue into a PE or banking role a couple of years down the line, either through an internal or lateral hire? Or am I massively overestimating the skills I'd be learning and can expect to be pigeonholed in the MO forever if I get this?
