Prop Trading from AM?

Hello all,

I am a senior in college, and I've been thinking about going into prop trading for career. I currently work in AM, and I like the job, but I've always liked trading as well. My question is, how would I effectively get a job in prop trading if I haven't had an internship in it? Is it impossible to make this move. I apologize if any questions are ignorant.

Thanks in advance.

Has your experience been at an actual asset manager or in WM? What has it been? Most larger AM firms have a cap markets team which is pretty trading-centric working with market makers, APs, etc.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
