Psychometric assessment in interview process

I have been interviewing at a firm for a few weeks now and have had video interviews with ~10 separate people. I was just informed that the next step is to take an in-person psychometric assessment at the firm's office and meet the head of the group. I was originally scheduled for a video call with the group head (had a last minute conflict), before there was any mention of the psychometric test.

Any insight into the amount of weight PE firms / banks place on these tests? In other words, is the test most likely just a "CYA" or might it have a sizable impact on whether I am extended an offer (particularly since it is late in the interview process)?
