Public v. Private investing

Would love to hear from those in the WSO community, who've worked in either private (PE, VC, etc) or public (HF, AM, etc) investing, about what generally makes someone a more natural fit for one of these?

I.e. - you'd be a better fit for public if you enjoy the markets, don't mind the stress associated with public swings, etc.
