Pushing back BB internship start date
Topic title is fairly explanatory...I have received my start date as a 2018 intern at a BB in NY. However, I will still be in school and finishing up with finals and need to push it back a week due to being on the quarter system. Can anyone provide me with some insight on this issue and if banks are accommodating for this? Thanks
I would tend to say no to students as a whole, but you could try explaining to them your situation and see what they say. They should understand because they don't want you failing your exams and then showing up to work there. It does not reflect them well.
Shouldnt be a problem. Pretty sure a few kids were late to my training class because of this. Guessing this is something HR understands and deals with every year as some top schools work on quarters.
You could also speak to your professors and try to take your final early.
My MM "highly recommended" people take finals early. I did that for both SA and FT training.
My school made us aware of the overlap and had recommended courses of action for students doing IB internships (basically take certain courses earlier so that all your finals are easily movable). The school is likely to be more flexible in terms of scheduling finals than the bank but either one should be able to accommodate your situation.
.
Talk to the school/professor for accommodations first.
