Putting Former School In Resume
I recently transferred to a top public school (UVA/UMich/Cal) from a lower public school. How would I go about putting my former school in my resume or should I put it at all? I would think that it needs to be addressed since one of the jobs in my "work experience" category and a lot of the activities that I have been involved in have been at my former school. Any help is appreciated.
Yes, you should put it in. When you get hired and HR asks for your transcript they will see that you transferred. Not that transferring is bad, but you shouldn't try to hide it. IMHO if you transfer to a better school than the one you came from it looks good for you.
Should I put it in as a whole separate entry? i.e.
University of (Top Public) 2007-2009 Blah blah
University of (Lower Public) 2005-2007 Blah Blah
OR
University of (Top Public) (via University of Lower Public) Bachelor of blah blah Expected 2009
I guess my question is more about formatting.
it's a resume, not a job application. if for some reason you are truly ashamed that you at one point attended Honest John's Community College, then take it off. you don't have to tell them if they don't ask.
