putting IB workshop on resume?
If you attend a one day IB work shop, should you put that on ur resume? Would you put that under professional experience?
Also, do you guys think its worth the money?

I look at a lot of undergrad resumes and I wouldn't see it as a negative, but it also wouldn't make you jump out to me.
It would be helpful if you don't have anything on your CV that highlights your interest in finance. Like, say you have an undergrad degree in engineering and no relevant experience in finance, it could be helpful to see that you are being proactive and trying to learn about the industry.
That being said, no one is going to be giving you an interview on that alone.
If you do include it, I would consider putting it in a "Skills" or "Relevant Coursework" section. Trying to sell it as professional experience is a stretch for a one day workshop.
hmm i guess, I was just thinking it belongs under professional since ur technically doing professional related stuff. Wouldn't make sense to put under extracurriculars. Maybe under education?
Yeah, when I mentioned "Relevant Coursework", I was thinking that would be a sub-section of your education section.
I don't think it fits under professional experience because it's just one day and not an actual job, and you paid to attend it.
I've seen put people put similar things (like modelling workshops) under education or skills.
Depends on what it is. Definitely has a place on your resume if you have enough white space that it would fit under something relevant..
As saconsult3 pointed out, not professional experience, better to list under educational segment of your resume. Also happy to review your resume if you'd like a fresh pair of eyes. Considering you mentioned you wanting more banking-related stuff, I'd recommend to check out other certifications/Bloomberg related certs (BMC comes to mind), as well just finding more resume-worthy things to highlight your interest + desire more.
In the grand scheme of things, $100 (or even $1300 for the crazy TTS courses) is a small price to pay to help make that necessary/difficult break into the career where you'll be making the numbers that you're chasing after. Consider it an investment, regardless of the cost, if you're able to cough it.
I did something very similar. I got lucky and was chosen to do a one-day course in ethics in business or some shit at a BB. I put it on my resume back when I had absolutely nothing else. These days, it doesn't even get a mention on my CV.
I reckon do it, as it could potentially assist you in getting an internship elsewhere. Once you rack up experience, forget that you even did it.
Basically this! I know someone who put up a bunch of diversity seminars they attended while in undergrad at various BBs and that was their step in breaking in. When you don't have much, it's an ok way to get yourself a bit of attention.
Exactly! Initially, something is better than nothing when filling out the white space in your resume.
Make sure to put you're a senior analyst at Goldman Sack
