Ask Me Anything: ER and IB Investment Analyst in frontier/emerging market

Hi everyone, I am so excited to be here and share my story. Yes, the title may be a little confusing - how the fuck is he doing both ER and IB?

So, I am an ER and IB analyst in an international MM IB in a frontier market. My bank is a pretty solid bank for my region.

I am covering Eastern Europe and Central Asia for ER, and my IB deals predominantly involve bonds offering and IPOs. Currently working on two bonds deals and waiting for the government to announce which state-owned enterprise is going to the IPO next.

What the hell am I doing here and how I got there? Well, I have done a lateral move from a local stock exchange, where I worked as an economic analyst, being involved heavily in capital market infrastructure reforms, so you may ask me as very difficult stuff about clearing, custodians, and everything about how the market operates. I have also done a lot of work on putting the stock exchange to automated statistics/analytics using Tableau and MS Access, and I have experience working with Python. So, the questions about how to make the stock data work are also welcomed.

So, if you have any questions, I will be glad to share my experience which is wide yet not deep (kind of a jack of all trades master of none style)

Kinda insulting to have a bot reply as the only reply to AMA lol

Yes, you are right. When the market is small and you don't get many deals, you can easily do both .
