Not gonna lie - gonna be hard from a MM (but I hope you know that lol). All I can say is network your butt off and hopefully you're bright enough to get through the interview and win the offer.

I’ve been networking like crazy, including trying to get people to meet in person (e.g. coffee chats). Would you be willing to meet in person for networking purposes under the current circumstances?

I rarely ever post on this site, but I am floored by the rudeness in your response to someone's question in a discussion you literally started to "give back to the community." Notwithstanding the absurdity and narcissism in thinking your clearly limited (and by your own measure below, non-merit based) experience is needed "by the community"... Judging by your responses, you sound angry and somewhat dispassionate in what you do. Also, your blatant xenophobic undertones (e.g. "MIT International robot", "English skills") are disgusting and bizarre for someone who works in government. Thankfully you are not in an important role since, as you mention, you are bored on a Friday at work. Generally, just be a better person. Thanks.

Was it relatively easy to land your government role (e.g. did they find your prior experience relevant or was this a total career switcher)? Would you say it's a very service oriented role or more finance-y? I'm thinking finance isn't very much for me anymore and am interested in public service.

It is an appointed role - not going to say it is merit based at all. Was completely based off connections through my high school. And it isn't very finance-y, PM me if you want more details (just don't want to post them on a broader forum).
