What technical skills would you advise working on heading into the internship during the school year? Thank you in advance
Literally the same technical skills everyone else works on. Modeling.
Was it amazzzingggg?
What kinds of opinions did people there have of themselves? A ton of people get a fuckin erection at the thought of working at Goldman and the more prestige-minded folk could be quite unbearable to be around, I would imagine. Now the majority of these people don't actually wind up at Goldman, so I was just wondering if there is a lot of internal "fuck yeah Goldman Sachs'-ing at the firm, if that makes sense, or if interns and analysts just treat it as a job, same old shit. Obviously it is fine to be proud of oneself, but all of the circle jerking on here gives me the impression that many people would be happy to allow themselves to be defined by the firm they work at. If you can at all dig into this, please go ahead. I hope this made sense.
Was an SA there previously and I promise it's just the back/mid office analysts (what GS calls "federation" staff) who are constantly self-hyping over being GS staff.
If I'm being honest that actually makes a lot of sense to me. Like by no means am I shitting on back office and support homies here, but I can definitely understand how the culture in those groups can really latch on to the GS name, especially compared to front office groups like IB and trading. Thanks for the input.
What, in your opinion, really differentiates Goldman from other investment banks? Just visited Goldman's office a few minutes ago, and really felt the bank has a different vibe compared to most other offices I've visited, but felt the people aren't that different so interested in your takes on this.
What do you mean by this? I've no experience of banking myself.
Is it even different to the vibe at somewhere just as prestigious like JPM or BAML
