Thanks for checking out my lonely thread.
Hey Navy (I assume you served? If so, thank you for serving this country!),
I am not well versed in the consultant space, but would be interested in hearing your background.
Cheers!
edit: Also, welcome to the forum! Appreciate the contribution so early.
Sorry I missed you question. My thread was so lonely, I stopped checking. My primary job on active duty was as a healthcare provider/adminisrator in the Navy. The Navy selected me to attent the Naval Postgraduate School to get a Masters degree in Information Technology Managment. While at NPS and through the online Defense Acquisition University, I received training and education on acquisition and project management. I managed IT program acquisition/development contracts at my first duty station after NPS and later in my career I managed the contract for a team of consultants Navy medicine had to advise and track process change management. The largest contact I was the lead PM on was around $40M, and I was a Navy service liaison to a DoD wide Electronic Health Record (EHR) contract with a life time value over $1B. I am an employee of a defense contractor who supports the DoD. Many civilians who work for the DoD as government employees or work as a contractor supporting the DoD are veterans. The government gives preference to firms competing for business on a variety of atributes (e.g. small business, minority/veteran owned, etc). There are also DOL incentives to companies that hire veterans. Generally the military healthcare sector seeks consultant assistance with improving efficiency of operations and assisting with the application of civilian best practices for quality and performance managment, mining big data, and advising on cost measurement. If you have any other questions, just ask.
Thanks for laying that out. Sounds like a pretty interesting career path that you had.
Has your workflow increased at all given the current crisis?
