Quantitative Finance for Corporate Finance?

Hey guys,

Fairly new to the CF side of WSO; I am a sophomore undergrad student exploring my options. I was wondering what you guys think is the better major for someone who wants to get into corporate finance. My options are regular finance(my semi-target school will prepare me for 2 levels of the CFA exam so I would probably grab my CFA ASAP) or quantitative finance.

I understand they are two very different majors; however, at my school, the QFin major includes ALL of the coursework in a normal Finance degree. What do you guys think?

P.S: I don't know much about corporate finance but really want to learn more. What are the common career paths for someone who enters CF in this manner? How is the lifestyle/pay compared to IB? Are progression opportunities based on merit or simply time put in? (EX: Traders move up on merit(performance) whereas in IB's analysts normally move on to associate positions after putting in their year or two..maybe three)

I appreciate any advice to be shared. Thank you!
