Queen's Accelerated MBA for Business Graduates

Any thoughts on this program?

http://business.queensu.ca/mba_programs/amba/inde…

Sounds interesting because Queens is top-ranked (#1 international in BW), plus this program allows you to complete an MBA in 12 months while working. Its also offered in most major cities across Canada, so I wouldn't have to move to Kingston.

I'm just worried that it doesn't have the same reputation as FT queens MBA.

I prefer Shulich over Queens. Well maybe because I live 20 minutes away... Business Week's ranking of Queens MBA is interesting but then Economist magazine ranks the Schulich School of Business among the top 15 MBA programs in the world.

Queen's MBA programs in general don't have the same recruitment as their Bcomm. MBA program probably sends one or two people into banking if that..

I came from banking (2 years as an analyst) and remember seeing quite a few people with a Queens MBA. Anyway, I'm not looking to get back into banking. I'm just wondering if anyone has done the program or knows someone who has done it and what their feedback was.

I do know someone in this program, and he had a sub 600 GMAT score doing it from one of the sattelite campus's, I think that they let just about anyone in if you arent doing it in Kingston, which doesnt speak well for the future of Queens MBA profile, and for the networking.

If you are new to Toronto and want to build a network you would want to go to Schulich because at least you will interact with a large student body, If you are going to Queens in their distance program you will not be building a large network which is a significant disadvantage.

Schulich has good OCR for banking, and Queens is probably similar.

I know about Queens Business School in Canada. I've never heard of this program before. What I can tell you is that from what I hear, accelerated and executive MBA's are more for those individuals who may be well established in their careers and want the addl credibility/degree recognition to further propel the path they may already be on.

If you're relatively young, I would say go sit in a classroom for two years to get the intangible/tangible benefits of an MBA that may be lost in translation when working through an executive or accelerated program (developing colleague network, recruiting opportunities, etc.)

Thanks for the input. I am 26 and just got my CFA designation. I am contemplating my next educational step and from what I can tell if I want to get into IB I will have to get a MBA.

i've heard good things about the mentioned program. Your really not going to learn a whole lot more, but you will have the clout of graduating from MBA Queen's. A friend of mine is completing his EMBA from Queen's and has wished he'd taken the accelerated. I would recommend. Are you working in canada today?
