Question about FLDPs

Has anyone had experience with FLDPs at defense contractor organizations like Lockheed, Raytheon or GE? Was thinking about applying in and am curious about the different types of roles and experiences you can work in, and how transferable the skills are, and anything else noteworthy w regards to these programs. Thanks!

I was pretty far into the interview process with BAE Systems for their FLDP so I know a little bit about how they run theirs. A lot of their rotations are based at production facilities where you work on segment specific finance at the plant level with a handful of opportunities at the HQ. There is also limited opportunity to rotate internationally (It is a UK firm) but it is there and a few people I talked to at the company had done it. For BAE specifically a lot of there locations are in small towns (really small) in the North East so that could be an issue for some.

That being said, I don't know a lot about the transferability of skills but my understanding is that its hard to lateral into the industry if you start somewhere else and the exit opportunities are limited. Again, I'm not 100% sure on that but that is what I've heard. In talking to a few people in the industry they felt as if pay at the lower levels is below that of finance groups outside of defense contracting but the as you spend more time there it will catch up to other companies over time.
