Question about reaching out to a VP
Hey guys,
I've been having trouble reaching out to analysts from a particular bank, and I checked out my school's recruiting page and noticed an alum that is a VP at that bank.
Would it be appropriate to reach out to that VP even though I haven't spoken to any of the analysts at his office? And if so, how do networking calls with VPs usually differ from phone calls with analysts?
Reaching out to a VP should be fine. Just ask to see if they are available anytime soon for a phone call. In my experience VP's are typically more willing to speak over the phone and are generally more interested in you (keep the conversation going rather than just you).
Good to hear, I'll definitely reach out to him then. Thanks!
Def do so, in fact from my experience the most helpful alumni have been VPs.
Since it takes at least 6 years or so to hit VP ask them their career path why they stayed in IB and didn't jump ship, etc. Honestly there isn't much difference between the questions you ask a VP and analyst.
With that said, I would generally cold email over cold call but thats just my opinion.
Thanks for help! Going to cold email him tomorrow
Cold email for sure. PM me what school, I'd love to talk if you're in the same region.
