Question on Post-MBA Management Consulting Recruiting/Hiring
Do MBA students interview for a specific service within a consulting firm? That is, do they interview for a position in one of the firms services, such as human capital, energy, supply chain, etc?
If so, do some services have less competition than others?
If no, are candidates asked about which specific industry/service they'd be interested in and would it even matter?
Really depends on the firm. MBB or Big 4?
Energy is a vertical (sector) while HC and SC are horizontals (practice area).
It is my understanding that MBAs are generally hired into the generalist pool.
Booz & Company hires for specific industries and functions, McKinsey mostly hires generalists but has a few functions they hire for as well, Bain & BCG hire exclusively generalists, Deloitte hires mostly generalists and for a few functions.
Nihil quidem expedita ratione. Et repudiandae et nemo sed esse. Illo aut exercitationem saepe. Hic omnis modi ipsam odio.
