Questions about first IB interview
Well, I've been accepted to my first interview for a 6 month internship in IB. I'm a 1st year undergrad. The interview will take place on 8th of April. I have knowledge of basic accounting (balance sheet, income, cash flow), but other than that I've less than nothing. Could you give me some books for beginners ? I have at home Rosenbaum's book, Liar's Poker and a small guide about Investment banking by Patrick Fearon. I also have little skills in excel and powerpoint, which I'm currently working on. Any advice, please ?
That is literally all you need for a first year undergrad internship.
You are a freshman. No one will expect you to be an expert on modeling or anything really. If you were to read and understand the Rosenbaum book, you would be set for SA and FT interviews. Good luck!
All you need to do is seem like a good person who people can tolerate. Your goal should be to learn and make their life easier by taking on as much as you can.
I don't think that they will take in account that I'm a freshman. This is the announcement :

Sorry for the long post. I'll do excel for 3 days in order to become more familiar with ii and then I'll start reading Rosenbaum's book. Does it provide info about everything I need to know for the interview ? (DCF, MBO,LBO, capital raising, WAC, FFC, multiples etc) . I was thinking to do some research about basics of capital markets investing, risk management and stuff but I'm not sure if the time allows me to since the interview will take place at the start of April. I've been stoned since I've seen that announcement because IB in Romania is in a development process and it's hard to find opportunities like this. I really want to nail it.
PS: Again, sorry for the long post :) regarding the accounting part, I can say that I'm familiar with 3 statements, it's anything else I need to know besides that ?
Does anybody have the excel templates from IB:Valuation, Leveraged Buyouts and M&A ? And also these :
Chapter 1 Comparable Companies Analysis Q&A.doc Chapter 2 precedent transactions Analysis Q&A.doc Chapter 3 Discounted Cash Flow Analysis Q&A.doc Chapter 4 Leveraged Buyouts Q&A.doc Chapter 5 Leveraged Buyout Analysis Q&A.doc Chapter 6 M&A Sale Process Q&A.doc

Hello
I have my first IBD FT interview coming up with a BB bank - I was wondering if there were any last minute questions or ideas I must review.
Thanks
Be well versed on the current credit situation for the banks and what the impact is. I'm sure it will be a big topic of the discussion.
Know the following: Why did you choose your undergrad What are your strengths/weaknesses What are the biggest issues in the market (i.e. credit crunch, cessation of LBO deals, sub-prime market, etc.) Also research the firm you are interviewing with and ask at least 2 insightful questions i.e. How will the current state of the financial markets affect your business and my future with the firm? etc.
Thanks for the contributions - when the interviewers ask for my biggest weaknesses, is it correct to reply with a weakness that can be spinned into a positive? or is it better to be honest with a weakness?
Also be well versed in Accounting thats what screws over most kids...
