Questions about GPA and Interviews
Hey guys,
So I recently got an interview for an internship at a hedge fund that manages over $10 billion AUM. I got the interview since I placed extremely high in their competition (top 15 out of over 2000) which mainly included finance professional with substantially more experience than me.
Here's a little background about myself: I'm Canadian (going into 3rd year) and go to a non target school. My CGPA isnt great due to it recently tanking because of my work schedule working 40+ hours (2 jobs) and some issues at home. I'm currently sitting at a 2.96 CGPA on a 4.0 scale. I have substantial work work experience in the Wealth Management/Insurance areas as I have been interning at a small family office for the past year.
I'm have also been an analyst for my school's investment fund for the past 6 months. I've done 1 equity research while there which wasn't that great (I'm kind of afraid they'll ask for a copy). I plan on doing more later on during the school year.
First off, I know I don't have the minimum required GPA to intern at the hedge fund as I require a 3.4+ GPA. Nonetheless they still asked me to apply. I'm kind of worried they didn't see my resume when I first attached for the competition. Even at that time I initially submitted it my GPA was under the minimum requirements so I'm kind of worried about that aspect. What are your guys' opinion on this? Should I worry about this? That being said, they have asked to schedule an interview, I'm just worried about after the interview if they look over my resume.
Now moving on, since I'm Canadian (and they are based in New York) I'm assuming the first interview will be done by Skype or Phone. Are these different than the ones in person?
Also what should I expect from Hedge fund Interview questions? I've talk to people who worked in PE and IB about their interviews and what resources they used to prepare but don't know anyone working for hedge funds since they are scarce in Canada.
Also what are good ressources to prepare? I'm looking at the Vault Finance and HF interview questions at the moment and plan to go through the WSO guide too.
What are do's and do not's of a hedge fund Interview?

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Point72? I talked to a recruiter and they said the competition would play a role in the recruiting process.
