Quit Job and Do Economic Development Work Abroad?

26F, Second year Associate in S&T. I am completely bored of it and realize that the longer I stay, the more pigeonholed I will become. My longer term goal is to do work at a social enterprise that promotes financial literacy/inclusion and improves the private sector environment in West Africa. I am not prepared to apply to business school this year, but want to in September. However, I do not want to spend another year in S&T. I am a dual citizen of a West African country and want to move there for 2021 to improve my language skills, find a job that equips me with the skills to kickstart a development career after grad school (I am willing to volunteer). Ultimately these are very important for the jobs that I want (language mastery and international experience). I am also applying to schools like Wharton Lauder, which emphasize these.

My move would make my year pretty unstructured, but I really do think I would come away with good skills. Certainly better than if I stayed in S&T. I have solid savings and family In the country. Do you think this is a good idea?
