Beginning in February, Walmart will give a one-cent-per-mile increase in pay. That means drivers will now make about 89 cents per mile on average and $87,500 a year.

unless you're working at Northwestern Mutual, $87,500 annually isn't going to be enough to quit your job...
I see pay in that space continuing to rise - it's a pilot shortage x2 sized problem. Even when trucks will drive themselves, much as jets do today, you'll still need guys in the cabs to do the ancillary work at minimum to actually doing some legs of driving.
