Quitting job after only 10 months
Been at current firm for 9 months, just got an offer to start next month at another firm in a different position (I'd prefer it more). The job I will be leaving is my first out of undergrad. How bad will leaving after 10 months look? I can't stay an extra 2 months to make it one year as my new position needs me to start sooner.
Difficult... But If you would feel more happy at your prospective position...I would do it.
of course it leaves a bad idea leaving after 10 months.
If your new position is what you think will enhance your career and work experience, by all means, go for it. It only looks bad if you do it too much. Also, since it's your first job, I don't think anyone would penalize you much, if any.
this is wall street
just curious.. where are you going to?
if you think it is a better opportunity, then definitely go for it.
Honestly, sieze the day. Go for the switch if you think you'll enjoy it more, learn more and all that jazz. I would just tell your bosses the old mob line "It's an offer you can't refuse." I know it's worked before for coworkers. One just left to join a hedge fund doing IR/Marketing the bosses understood. There are few oppertunities as an post-undergrad like this that you'll have a year into your job, so go for it.
what are you doing now and what will you be doing in the future???
i dont know how much of a question there really is. apparently some employers don't care about you only being there for 9 months considering you were offered another position. while i dont think it is an issue, i would definitely not do it too often. as someone mentioned, it is your first job and if most people would look at the move and view it as a promotion or as having some additional benefit to your career i doubt most will care.
