Random Rant about Banks

I have a deal pricing next week and _________ Capital Markets is working on it... I am seriously beginning to wonder if the "best and brightest" work at banks. Worked with the same group a couple weeks ago on another deal and dealt with the same stupid questions and stupid people...

Actually now that I think about it.. They do something stupid EVERY time they are involved in a transaction... I got a call today saying "Can you please send me the _______ " which wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't posted on a website and readily available for ANYONE to find.. it in fact has its own link. And the website its on he has been to god knows how many times as its used for EVERY deal we work on and he is registered in the system (twice actually.. he screwed up his contact info and email address the first time so instead of fixing it he re-registered. I can tell because I have the master list of every registered banker/trader for the site)

It also wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have to send him the ______ on 3 other deals this month. So I send a slightly dickish reply and said "Sure, see attached.. It can also be found here: (Insert hyperlink DIRECTLY to the file)."

I got a follow up question 5 minutes later asking for another document... and guess what... It is also available in a website readily available for ANYONE to find... in fact it is in the same link as the OTHER file I just sent him, that I also sent him the link for.

But whatever, I will be nice its a Friday. So I sent it to him... 5 minutes later.. More Questions, this was even worse as the questions he asked were answered in the document I just sent him 5 minutes earlier.

I get this shit all over the place (not in banking, just life). I swear to god kids know how to use Facebook and Twitter, but the hell if they know how to type "www.google.com" in the address bar and enter text into the search box.

Probably 50 more years of this. Fuck my life

This definitely happens to everyone, everywhere.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't confront the person if it's such a small thing like this. That's definitely the problem though. There needs to be more confrontation.

I've taken to just saying "Google" when asked a stupid/simple question. I occasionally butt into random people's conversations and do this, too. It's gotten to be kind of a hobby for me, you could say bahaha

YES!!!! hahahaha. I knew I saw it somewhere before.

this will be my new response to all stupidity

This is pretty hilarious one question though how senior is the guy asking these questions?

It could be that someone else is actually lazy and dumb as well.

Ex. If you're sending a document to him and he is simply pinging you directly because he knows you're low on the totem pole and will send him whatever he wants he is basically outsourcing work. He copies the request sends it to you, copies your email down and forwards it to the other party.

This happens quite a bit. The guy you're sending it to doesnt want to pick up the links or read the document for the person you're not seeing in the conversation. He just wants someone else to not bother him and he doesnt want to deal with it. So the solution is just to ping the lowest person and hit forward on everything.

Dude's an analyst... and I think started within the last 3-4 months since I didn't see his name last fall. He is definitely low man on the totem pole.. Normally when I deal with banks I deal directly with MDs and VPs... Analysts will ask questions occassionally but not stupid shit like this
