I'm an Asian dude who is 33 years old!
I have around 8 years' work experience in middle office roles in corporate banking - Not IB and not FO!
I have a good undergrad gpa and a very good post grad Ms gpa.
GMAT 750 but shit IR - 4. 1st attempt.
I was hoping to get into a Cornell or NYU ranked MBA , but I was unsuccessful.
I have been admitted into a 20-25 ranked school - think Georgetown, Emory, USC, Indiana, Vandy
Given my age should I just accept or try again!
Your views, criticisms etc are welcome!

The t20-25 MBA decision would be easier if the tuition costs were a lot less, but they are similar to t10 programs!
And I was given no merit scholarship.
Maybe re-apply with fewer exclamation marks in your essays.
I think OP probably has stats for top 15 school but needs to improve on his writing skills for the essays since from this post alone i can see why he got denied at Cornell and NYU.

Even if you got into NYU or Cornell, I think you may still need to define your career goals.
Why MBA now? Why MBA after corp banking? Do you have family limiters at all? Are you international or needs Visa?
Even though your acceptance are t20s, if you don't have a clear vision about those things, you may be unable to use the MBA opportunity effectively
I agree with all the points made above.
Agree with this - this will be especially important given your age and experience. You are almost at the stage for EMBA, so convincing the Adcom on why you need an MBA right now is extremely critical. MBA adcoms looks at the full picture of an application. Your GMAT is great enough (no body cares about IR) and whatever you studies or the grades you got during UG is not that important given the length of your WE. The most important factor is really the why - your pitch/story.
Without knowing more about why you need an MBA it's hard to make a recommendation as well. Do you need it to do a career switch or tofurther advance your current progression? MBA adcoms like sure thing. They need to know that you've got a goal and a roadmap towards your goal - and that an MBA happens to land in that roadmap.
In short - I'd almost say go for it if you are looking for a drastic career change. Else if you are looking to stay on the same track, go for an EMBA at a top school instead.

Can such a school be used to break in into IB at a BB?
Is IR not considered at all? I was thinking about retaking the GMAT. Just to get an IR of at least 6 - like my practice tests.
I agree that my essays were probably average.
IB at BB is hard anywhere below T15. GMAT doesn't mean shit. Your whatever else sucked most likely

Here is my advice.
1) You're probably getting into these lower ranked program because your age and work experience is outside of the target schools.
2) Your odds of breaking into banking at 35, after 8 years in the MO, are lower than other students
3) On paper you look like a good candidate. What has your promotions been like? Did you have good recommendations? Were your essays wells crafted?
With all this time in the MO you should have been able to transfer or progress to the FO of Corporate Banking. Why did you stay there so long?
IMO, look at EMBA programs with a better brand and use it to move into FO Corporate Banking at a VP level. CB will respect your prior experience and the EMBA brand will both allow you to keep working and get a better brand. At this time in your life taking 2 years off for a middle range program is too much. And if you had all the stats you say you have and only got into the schools you mention, something was drastically wrong with your application. This defect can prevent you from getting a better job than you have now so correct it before you do an MBA and have that debt and time out of the office.
Where are you located? Why not look at a good PT option?
Thank you. Yes my Achilles heel as they say is a few company changes within those 8 years, resulting in me not being very senior in the hierarchy despite having so many years of experience.
I think low IR was a factor too.
CBS emailed me about being suitable for their EMBA. I looked up the profiles and saw that the student profiles were of those with much more management experience than me. I have no management experience. So I just ignored the email.
I am based in Asia, so part time options are not available. I want to be in the US.
Thanks for your time guys. The prospect of being 36 when graduating and that too from a middle range school if I try again next year and get a similar result is just scary.
Trust me IR was not a factor at all - I got an IR score of 5 and 740 GMAT and am matriculating at an M7 this year.
