1 point for each of these:

Loving Family +1 Clean water +1 Warm food every night +1 Roof over my head +1 Great education +1 Great opportunities ahead of me +1 Having good overall health +1 Not having aids or some other terrible disease +1 Healthy relationship with friends and gf +1 Freedom to worship God in my own way +1

I could go on forever, so I'm gonna give it 100

Also anyone posting should establish a scale. I was working under the assumption that higher numbers are better, but going the other way also makes sense.

For me, 1 = suicide-prone and >10 = awesome

Not bad, but a long way to go, so probably a ~6 (4 for family/friend/etc, 2 for accomplishments... ugh)

8 Grew up in a wealthy family, fucking intelligent, good looking, good friends, good uni, investment banking future ahead due to SI at BB, nice family, on the downside there could be a fuller pipeline of hot chicks ahead and id really like to take some time off to do whatever I want for say a year

You realize accomplishments and material crap won't actually make you happy, right?

Read up on the psychology of happiness and how we synthesize happiness for ourselves. Research shows that people 100 years ago were just as happy as we are today. People earning $60k a year are just as happy as those earning $250k (on average). Paraplegics are just as happy as the able-bodied.

You get used to things VERY quickly, and happiness isn't something you can achieve by acquiring material things.

I hate it when research tells me how I feel

It doesn't tell you how you feel... just tells you why you feel that way. At the end of the day it's just chemicals in your brain, bro.

Worst idea for a topic ever, but I can't help but think about this wonderful movie quote... And as such, I rate my life 11.

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and... Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten? Nigel Tufnel: Exactly. Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? Marty DiBergi: I don't know. Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven. Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

1... im a junior at a nontarget and if my job search continues the way is has been so far, im looking at being homeless in about a year and a half

You really need some perspective. It's good to aim high, but you sure sound like a tool. At one point in my life I was in the EXACT same spot, but I probably would've given my life a 9 at that point - I partied all the time, had a super hot GF, hung out with my true friends almost every day, etc... The only reason it wasn't a 10 is because I was totally broke and the gf was legit crazy.

Now, I'd say I'm at an 8. I generally like my job and don't work too many hours. I've got my health, a wife, family, friends and house that I really love. I'll never be a BSD and I'm ok with that. A little more $ and a few minor things would probably put me at a 10.

9 - I think my high rating comes from the fact that I got abused for 2 years early in my career and now I am living the exact opposite (ie free to travel wherever I want and work as many hours as I want) and can really appreciate it.

...although jdOasis.com is stressing me out a bit so working long hours at least for now...

International Pymp:
I'd say 10, but just recently I think my hair is starting to thin towards the front and I'm only 25... so I'll go with 9.

Fuck that man, I'm younger than you and people think I'm 40. My hair line is like the French...never stops retreating.
