Rates Sale/Trading - Appreciate any input

Have just been given my S+T rotational programme and found out I will be spending the first half of my internship within Rates.

I don't have the broadest knowledge of this desk / product so would appreciate any input you guys could give in terms of the main areas I should be reading up on. Would I be right to assume the main focus would be on interest rate swaps? I know that it is very macro orientated and quantitative at times which I like.

Any input on the the desk / product you guys could give would be massively appreciated.
