Re-interview with small boutique?

Hi All,

I've been reading these forums for quite some time now and have learned a great deal! However, now I need your help.

Last year, after finishing my bachelor in business administration I interviewed with a small boutique in the Netherlands. (As this is where I live). At the time I was looking for an internship of 3-4 months just to gain some experience and bridge a few months until my master's would start (business administration, governance & valuation specialization). I had just sent a letter asking for an internship.

I had an interview with an MD and SA. The opening question was a painful blow to the testies and interesting lesson; In my infinite stupidity I had forgotten to replace the name of a large national bank in my cover letter. Of course, I was confronted with this, but it seemed all was good and laughs were exchanged.
The rest of the interview was a very relaxing experience; with my trying to BS my way through questions I didn't know the answer to. (At one time, the MD laughed and proclaimed "bwaha, if you don't know the answer, just say so, haha")

After the interview was over I made the stupid mistake of not sending a thank-you note. A few days later I was called by the SA saying that although they felt it was a nice interview, they would not be able to hire me because I would be only there for 3-4 months, and leave for my master's degree afterwards and all the effort that they would have to put in, would make it not work out on their end. I thanked him for his call, and that was it.

Now; I'm halfway through my master's in business administration (governance and valuation specialization) and of course still want to get into IB. Would it be a faux-pas if I contacted the firm again? And how should I do so? Can I just contact the SA, or would the same approach as the first time be best?

As a very junior monkey, I am looking forward to your advice regarding this matter.
