RE Investment Post-MBA
Hi all,
I am new to WSO and first wanted to say thank you to all of the users. This site has been tremendously helpful in understanding the nuances of the finance world.
I wanted to get some advice on how to break into RE finance, REPE, or REITs. I am in the process of interviewing at top tier MBA programs and want to focus my studies on RE once I enroll. I went to a top 15 undergrad, majored in econ but have very little finance background. My previous work experience has been very non-traditional (professional sports, 5 years). I wanted to get your thoughts on how to position myself for interviews and what skills I need to learn to have a realistic shot at top firms? Ideally I would like to work for a large RE firm (BX, starwood, colony, tishman-speyer) in some sort of rotational program to get a broad understanding of the industry before I find my niche. Do these programs even exist or are my aspirations to grand? Thanks guys.
