I hope you didn't tell your current boss where you are working...

If you did, given the current meltdown, just be upfront about it to your new bosses, and be objective and factual about it. State the facts and don't mention how she is as a person.

Be professional about it, if you can finish the project before you are due to start at the new firm, then finish it professionally. Just don't be emotional about it, you stand to lose more. But don't be afraid of her or anything, if that is how she behaves, people in the industry would already know. It is a small industry afterall.
