What are a person's odds of making it to a Superday?
I just wanted to know if someone could provide a rough estimate based on previous poster's experiences on this forum.
Let's say someone has 10 interviews, is it reasonable for him/her to expect to make it to 4 Superdays?
I'm getting worried that I have gone 0 for 2 in terms of making it to Superdays this year so far.
It all depends on the person. A great resume will get you the first interview. If you go in and are dull, nervous, robotic, fake, uninteresting, etc you won't get called for the Superday. Every person is different, so you really can't say what the average percentage for an invitation to a Superday would be. For example, while interviewing for FT, I was called back for the first 4 interviews I had. I got the offer I wanted, so I canceled the rest of my first rounds.
I wouldn't worry too much about going 0 for 2. At your next interview just be yourself and dont be afraid to take a chance.
Were you first round interview on campus or over the phone?
phone.
What are the odds after the superday? What percentage of applicants do they normally call into the office for on site final rounds. Say they get 1000 apps in the mail, and have 6 SA spots (yes, only 6, smaller firm)... how many do you think they will bring into the office for a superday after the pre-screen and phone interview/on campus interviews.
They will probably bring 20 to the Superday and 6 will get offers from what I have heard.
Your odds are never in your favor from a numbers perspective.
I've heard back from 7 interviews, all from BBs. I received 4 superdays. Oddly enough two of them I got dinged were from trading, I guess that could sniff out the banker in me. Of the four superdays, I got dinged from one of them already and the other 3 are in the future.
No reason to worry. This industry is very competitive and you'll have to keep trying. I had 25 interviews last fall, got 5 second rounds and only one offer, which I accepted. If it's not working out, just keep trying, but definitely don't get discouraged after 2 interviews. On the other hand, I know a guy who had the first interview of his life with JPMorgan and got an offer and accepted it. So it really depends.
20%- If there were 12 people interviewing, generally, they brought back 3-4 people. Number of offers depended on the office, but generally, most banks ended up with 1-2 offers.
From my experience, if they had two rooms or more of interviews, each room would pick 2-3 people to invite to SuperDay.
Keep in mind though that the same people will literally get the majority of the 2nd rounds/SuperDays, so that really limits your chances.
4/7 is pretty damn good. 0/2 is nothing to worry about- 0/10, in this market, is a slight cause for concern- keep your head up though- that is most important.
Realistically How Hard Is It to Get a Super Day? (Originally Posted: 07/15/2016)
I'm a rising junior at a non-core school with little to know track record or history of producing bankers (which you can probably figure out by my name). I've been networking for about a year now, having talked to 50+ people at around 10 different banks.
I know it varies by bank, but what is the average chance an applicant typically gets an invite to a super day? Curious to know, especially since this is my first post on this site.
bump, interested as well
