Really need help choosing a college!

Hey guys,
I was recently lucky enough to have been accepted to both Swarthmore College and the NYU Stern School of Business - Business and Political Economy program. At Swarthmore, I would be in a much more intellectual environment and get to really see different viewpoints. (My major here would likely be a dual of either Poli Sci/Econ or CS/Econ).
At the BPE program at Stern, I would spend a year in london and a semester in shanghai. There are only about 40 kids in the BPE program and it would allow me to really distinguish myself from the kids at Stern. But I've also heard that many of the stern kids follow a herd mentality so that kind of annoys me. So I was hoping maybe someone could give me advice on that...At the presentation, it was kind of suggested that bpe would be geared towards management consulting... Here's the program link: http://www.stern.nyu.edu/portal-partners/current-students/undergraduate…

I feel as if I'll have a lot of fun at either school so I'm not worried about that. All in all, I was hoping if someone could guide me on really the career prospects of graduating from BPE vs Swarthmore and where placement would be better. Also, if you've got advice on BPE vs Stern, I would really appreciate that as well.
Thanks again for your time!

you guys don't feel like swat's intellectual environment would encourage recruitment?

No. Go to Stern if you want access to recruiting for highly sought-after jobs.

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis - when I was dead broke man I couldn't picture this

Don't let the people on this board dictate where you go to school, we already got to make our decisions. It seems like you really want to go to swarthmore. If so, go there. NYU will have much better recruiting and job opportunities in finance. No question there. However, you may not want to do finance in 4 years. Also, you can get into finance from Swarthmore, it will just be much easier from NYU.

Bottom line, go where you want to go, not where anyone tells you to go...

This is the only quality advice in this thread.

I think the intent behind the advice is good, but the message is flawed.

NYU will be better in every way. Even if the OP decides not to do finance, the other NYU schools are top-notch. Indeed, it's up to the OP to decide what school he goes to, but he should know that going to Swarthmore over NYU is probably not a sound choice. The only way Swarthmore > NYU is if the cost of attendance would be significantly lower.

My advice: go to NYU. Regardless of what you eventually choose to do, it will have been a good choice.

in it 2 win it

Couldn't be more true. Both are great schools, but you have to ask yourself whether you want to be at a small liberal arts school or a huge university. I personally think there's a lot of value in the learning/ social experience at a small school. You can always go to b-school later on, but you only have one chance to go to Swathmore.
