Reapplying at McKinsey with MBA
Hello,
I went through the recruiting process with McKinsey as an experienced hire for the Marketing & Sales function. I was rejected in July 2016 after a second final round of interviews (they brought me back for another single interview after a hung final round jury). I will be attending a top 15 MBA program this fall with the intention of recruiting for consulting.
After being rejected, my McKinsey HR contact told me that I could apply again two years. Considering the MBA recruitment cycle, I'll be officially applying in winter 2017 which is ~1.5 years after first being rejected. Do you think the fact that I will be applying less than two years after initially being rejected will harm me?
Note that I'll be applying as a generalist through the MBA program rather than to a specialty function and my circumstances will be drastically different due to the MBA.
Thanks for your time.
Contact your recruiter, see what she says. Also, apply to Bain and BCG, same shit, different toilet
You should be fine.
This could change slightly depending on location, but the idea is that they want you to apply if "something has changed." A friend of mine applied during b-school, got rejected, did another consulting internship, applied towards the end of b-school and got the job. If you're really insure ask somebody from HR while highlighting how you would be an even better candidate now.
