Recently received an offer from Goldman Sachs
I recently accepted an offer from Goldman. I got 6 rejection letters from bulge bracket banks. Finally, on my last superday this year I received an offer from the best investment bank. I received no specific technicals because of my liberal arts background. I only got "What are some valuation techniques." Any way, just wanted to note, that no many how many rejection letters you get. Just prepare more and learn more from every interview. It will work out. Let me know if you have any questions about any interviews I had. I interviewed at UBS, Barclays, Citi, JP Morgan, and Goldman.
How many super days did you go through before that? Also, SA or FT?
I did about 8 superdays including middle market banks. UBS and Barclays were for internships. But then ended up working at Fidelity. Then the rest were for fulltime
.
JPM sucks, you dumb slut!
Great job, man. Congratulations. Curious to know a little bit about your profile? Locking down that many first rounds and then converting them into superdays is no easy win.
Thank you, appreciate it. So worked sophomore year of college at UBS Wealth Management, then Fidelity Junior year. The way I got super days was networking and emailing every alumni of my college. I knew no one at Goldman before I applied and was confident and studied my IB technicals and knew why banking and why Goldman. Fit is 95% of interview
Any tips on how to email alumni?
.
They had spots for FT? I thought most would be taken by summer interns.
GS typically has a small handful that they save to poach from the other firms. Hence why their offer rates are always the lowest.
Don't know why you're getting MS thrown at you, absolutely correct
Congrats! I’m awaiting the final decision after over a dozen interviews and a final round interview.. curious did you recover a prior compensation form before you got ur offer? I’ve yet to hear back but the recruiter said he’s excited to be working on extending me an offer ..
what kind of school did you go to?
*
How many days after the super day did you get the offer ?
Clarification question: you said some of these are for FT and SA? Didn't you intern at Fidelity summer after your jr year?
Congrats OP! What did the timeline look like for you during the interview process? When was the superday with them?
I love a classic hustle story. Target or non-target? If it is the latter, more kudos your way.
Robert Duval?
Maybe.
PLEASE. STAHP.
Congrats OP! Amazing news! Sorry you must be bombarded by loads of questions already. Would you mind telling us why you think you failed the previous superdays and what recommendation would you give in terms of interviews?
Congrats. Target or non-target?
OP said liberal arts so I'll assume target. IMO very rare a nontarget would get that many superdays unless experience was IB... coming from a nontarget myself
I'm coming from a non/semi target, liberal arts backgrounds and received two SA offers
check ur pm John
OP, I am guessing you went to a target or semi-target school. Congrats on making it through, but now you have the arduous battle ahead.
This again proves to the point. Majority of the time, this is a network-based industry.
Good luck!
Is this slc ibd?
Lmao
You say you got 6 rejections letter from BBs but only mention 4 BBs that rejected you...so some BBs sent you multiple rejection letters?
Who said he didn't interview for 2 jobs at some firms?
He did not say he did.
What GPA did you have when you graduated from college. Also, what type of colleges are comparable to the one you went to? I am at a small non-target private liberal arts college and want to get a feel as to where you went to school.
Hey, congrats on having the offer!! I've got an video interview for UBS(wealth management) and can you share me some tips or questions? I heard that it's really technical. I'd appreciate much of any advice!
UBS WM interviews are not technical at all it's purely behavioral
Congrats first! Do you have any suggestions on video interviews and I am wondering what's the secret to connect with alumni and get interview? I mean do you ask them to pass your resume and cover letter directly to the recruiter or use their names as reference when apply online?
Really inspiring. Great to hear and congratulations on the offer from GS.
That's great, congratulations! I want to ask what university did you go to or are you still a student? I am a junior and I am not getting a lot of interviews and would appreciate your feedback on anything that can help me. Thanks and good luck again
The guy went to a target or semi-target if it couldn't be anymore blatantly obvious lol. Getting that many BB FT interviews is close to impossible unless you have multiple crazy connections at each firm.
Honestly if you're a non-target without interviews it is not looking good. Not the end of the world, can still go for boutiques, fldps, etc. just don't be BB IB or bust. It will save you the heartache.
Congrats man, Goldman is real selective but an internship or early career there opens so many more doors
