Registered Phone Representative
Good Evening Everyone,
I'm a fresh college graduate with a degree in English and Philosophy but I'm trying to break into Finance. I initially wanted to go into journalism but after taking a few econ courses and reading up on Finance I decided to pursue finance.
I have an interview coming up at Merrill Lynch for a position as a Registered Phone Representative. It's a call center job, but the bright side is that Merrill Lynch will sponsor you for both the Series 7 and 66. The pay isn't that great but the opportunity after is tremendous.
I've applied for hundreds of jobs and haven't gotten many offers for an analyst or series sponsoring role. I waited two months to receive the interview, in that time I turned down some really good marketing and IT roles. I have offers to work in civil service and policy (my specializations), so I was wondering what r/financialcareers thinks about this position? Is it worth someone with my background to pursue this? Some of the offers I've gotten are worth double the RPR role but I feel as if Finance would be more fulfilling for me and having Merrill Lynch on my resume would be a great leg up.
If anyone has gone this route or worked with Merrill Lynch as a college grad I'd really love to hear any advice you might have.

Ive never worked at ML but can tell you that there is real upside to getting the 7 and 66 licenses. Does the salary there stop at any point? If it doesn't take it. Go from there.
