Rejected in previous interviews - what to say?
Hi,
As I have a few more interviews for full time positions lined up in the next weeks (i,e. AT Kearney, BCG..), I was wondering what I should or should not say about previous interviews in which I got rejected (in my case McK, Bain)?
On the one hand, it would probably make a bad impression if I mention previous interviews where I have failed (even though if the effect is only subconsciously..). On the other hand, when i.e. interviewing with AT Kearney, I would assume that it does not sound very convincing either to mention that I have further interviews only with BCG but not McK or Bain nor that I do not have any further interviews..
Any advice on how I should handle this situation?
Just be vague... you can also mention that you 'interviewed' for McK or Bain, but you don't have to say anything about how you've been rejected.
Hmm..but I would assume that if I mention interviews with McK and Bain, they would probably ask how it went..at least that's what I would do..
You get the point. Treat it as an opportunity to sell why you want the firm. It will also get you off of the awkward topic of where else you're looking.
