Rejecting Full-time Banking for Aerospace & Defense?
Over the summer, I worked at a top BB in a middle-office role.
Although the exposure was great, I don't think I will enjoy banking as much as I thought. I received a full-time offer but I don't think I wish to accept it. I was always interested in the aerospace & defense industry and was wondering how hard it will be to break in. Any thoughts?
Hey Emily C, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I'm here since nobody responded to your thread! Bummer...could just be time of day or unlucky (or the question/topci is too vague or too specific). Maybe one of these topics will help:

Hope that helps.
Have you considered looking at the front-office roles at the BB? I wouldn't rule it out completely just after a middle-office experience. I've been on both ends of the F500 A&D industry and front office at a bank. I left A&D's FLDP program because it wasn't challenging. I came from a non-target background so it's fairly easy to break in (for entry level). Depending on which group you want to join that'll decide how hard it'll be. PM me if you need more info.
A bird in hand is worth two in the bush
I interviewed for a strategy/M&A role at an A&D. It's a very interesting industry especially those who play in intel, cyber, surveillance, etc. but it moves slow as hell and extremely beauracratic as you would expect. Everybody who I interviewed with had been at the company for 15+years, no young talent (that i saw in the office) and had a very stuffy feeling (i.e. limited collaboration).
^ I'd echo the same feeling td mentioned. Only after I moved away from A&D did I feel the gap of young talent to older workers close.
