Renege on Market Risk Offer at MUFG for Oppenheimer IB
I'm an student and had sign thinkabbr title="investment banking">IB makes a lot more sense for me but not sure if it'd be worth the risk. any thoughts on reneging MO for an FO position for SA?

Not sure what you mean by "effectively", but once you've got it in writing get out of mufg asap this should be a no brainer if you're gunning for IB
Run and don’t look back
Wait did you have a superday already? I had a first round but never heard back
You need to look into that sponsorship situation. That's almost the most important point in your case.
That being said, if you're good on that front OPCO all the way - make sure that you have a signed offer in hand before you renig.
This. Do NOT reneg until you receive and sign the OpCo offer letter.
Definitely renege regardless of the sponsorship situation. I feel like having the experience in IB would only lend itself to getting a better offer down the road, even if not at OPCO. And it will be easy to explain to firms interviewing you why they did not make you an offer.
agreed
Thanks for the insights! Can anyone confirm that Opco doesn't sponsor?
wondering whether OPCO sponsor or not...did you figure it out?
.
I have a return offer from the summer internship and am planning to sign but have also been shopping around. Some firms are doing superdays around October which is later than the acceptance deadline for the return offer.
How should i respond when interviewing for FT and get asked how much time do I have to accept the return offer for the SA->FT? I want to show that I got a return offer but I obviously don’t want to show that I’m reneging by saying I’ve signed. Should I just say that I got the offer but declined because of the timeline clash even if I’ve signed?
Where did you intern? Also, this might be the dumbest idea ever. If you’re going to lie to begin with, go with the less stupid lie and say you haven’t had to accept rather than saying you’ve declined the offer and no longer have it.
OP what did you end up doing
ended up not reneging and staying with my summer internship in Market Risk. I did full time recruiting and eventually got an offer from an EB.
how tough was FT recruiting, and how were you able to get interviews at EBs? also are you at a target?
Congrats you crushed it
