Reneging IB for MBB

I’m currently debating accepting a full time offer with a BB prior to doing MBB recruiting. Everyone I’ve talked to, including a former head in the office, has said I’d be a fool not to accept the BB offer. With that, they’ve all said I should continue to recruit and recruit consulting if that’s what I’m interested in, but turning down an offer without another fully lined up would be a bad idea.

Does anyone know if I’d have to tell consulting recruiters/interviewers that I’ve already accepted an offer at a BB? If so, would that hurt my chances?

The offer is the classic “employment at will,” so technically the BB could renege on me if that helps.

Unless they have a good reason to i don't think the BB will retract the offer themselves. The only risk is that someone you interviewed with knows someone you will meet at the MBBs you recruit from - far less likely between IB and consulting than between IBs. If you really want consulting then keep recruiting and see what happens with MBB. If you're unsure perhaps take the BB offer and try it out for a year. it's not that hard to pivot from IB to consulting after 1 year if you really don't like it.
