REPE acquiring or developing Resort/Casino/Hotels

Hi everyone,

Having interned at both a BB (M&A generalist) and a REPE, I realized that I was really interested by the corporate level of RE investing. I would also like to keep the 3 FS modeling knowledge that tends to lack with pure RE player (just investing at the asset level: offices, warehouses, MF...).

I was wondering if you knew about particular RE players acquiring or developing: casinos, resorts, or hotels (as they are not pure real estate).

I did my research and found the usual suspects: BXS, KKR, TPG, Carlyle. However, I am particularly looking for companies such as KSL Capital Partners or Starwood. But, I can't find other similar companies. Would you have some names in the US and Europe?

Thanks !

Can't name any other places that specialize solely in the Leisure / Lodging space but in terms of Corporate RE: StepStone Real Estate, Oaktree Capital, Sovereign wealth funds / pension funds (the ones that actually make direct investments). Most places that invest in corporate RE expect you to work in RE investment banking for a couple of years (just take a look at KSL Capital Partner's team).

If you go the IB route, you'll learn who the players are since some of them will be your clients.

Thanks for the answer. I plan on working in IB but the thing is my team is generalist and I am afraid of not getting any RE-related deals. I fear a lack of motivation if I need to work on industries I don't really want to. I also think it would be pretty hard to secure itws with companies operating in corporate RE if I don't see any RE deals. That's why I was looking for other companies to see if all the teams had a RE IB background or REPE (pure player), because I also have a return offer from the REPE company I interned at (PERE 50 company but pure player).
