REPE Analyst Resume
Hey Everyone - I've been a long time browser on WSO and this is my first post.
I'm currently a second year AM analyst a top REPE firm in NYC. I'm starting to look for new opportunities because my interest lies in a different field. Asset Management has been great with teaching me the fundamentals of property analysis, investments and value creation, but I am drawn towards acquisitions. I actually wanted to do acquisitions out of college, but that did not happen. Now that I have some experience under my belt, I figure it's a good time to take a chance. I would be seeking an acquisitions analyst position.
First, how does one structure a REPE resume? To all REPE/REIT analysts/associates/VPs/SVPs/MDs - do firms want to see what type of funds/accounts you worked on (JVs, investment strategy, size, etc)? Do they want to see it reflect something like a typical IB ResumeWhere I would highlight my main responsibilities (valuation, budgeting, lease analysis, etc.) and other noteworthy accomplishments? Also, I have three internships prior to this position...should I only keep the most relevant ones or keep them all?
Second, has anyone transitioned from AM to acquisitions? If so, could you talk about any hurdles that you faced?
PM me if you want more details. More than happy to share.
A great source for real estate resumes is to Google a resume book from MIT's real estate program or the Harvard real estate club or whatever.
Definitely highlight any transaction experience you may have had at the firm. If you were involved in a project that lead to value enhancement, include that too.
New to the forum - been lurking for quite some time.
I have a bunch of resume books from the case competitions that I did during my MBA.
Shoot me a PM and I'll send them over.
Can you make a lateral move internally to acq? Try for that. Can be challenging to move to Acq from AM.
@"NovaCRE" - I'll PM you once I get enough points to do so
@"atwoodt" - I'm unable to make a move internally unfortunately. That was the first thing I tried
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the feedback
