This sounds like AEW. That’s significantly below market if you’re in a major metro. I’ve literally gotten quoted that while I was making $200k in IB. You should be looking at $85k-$100k+ with two years of experience. If you have room to negotiate, I would try to.
West Coast and $4B AUM sounds like AEW?
Whoops, I saw the comp and assumed it was AEW. FYI AEW does have west coast presence, but $4BN isn’t AEW so you’re right there.
I received an offer from there in the Boston office and the numbers were around that (again, I had two years of IB experience)...
Its not AEW, but similar.
Haha! Thought the same thing.
Depends what market the office is based out of. That seems very low to me... if I'm thinking LA/SD/San Jose, down right offensive for SF. IMO you should be looking at $70-80k min in those three CA markets, especially with 2 years of Dev exp. Or is the position based out of entirely different area?
Is their team heavily built out (lot of acquisition guys)? And did they give you any indication that this would be pay while you're learning acquisitions and will increase after 6mo-1yr?
It is based out of LA.
They have a team of analyst and need to expand.
They did not give any indication if increases in 6 months.
I countered 70k, but I think it's worth it just for the experience I will gain.
Sounds good. See what you can get out of them... I'd imagine other REPE firms offer much more competitive salaries in that market, but then again I dont have any experience out there and don't know many working there.
Sounds low, but it is an analyst role.
Did you apply for an entry level role? That comp wouldn't be low for a first job out of college.
Graduated in July 2018, been at a developer since
Yeah that's kind of what I was referring to. You, personally, are more experienced than a first year, entry-level analyst, but from the comp, I wonder if the role itself is simply a first year, entry-level analyst role.
Ignore all of the advice below if the REPE analyst position is your dream job / firm.
What is you current role at the development shop and what type of development group is it? Are you currently a deal focused analyst? If so and you are near being bumped up to associate, it may benefit you to hold off making a switch until you get promoted. You could then recruit for REPE associate roles.
Eventually I want to transition to top REPE firm, so I think this position is exactly what i need right now.
I am not close to getting promoted due to small size and lack of growth opportunity. I am deal focused, but this shop is to small for my long term goals.
Understood, well if that is the case I think you are right to be focusing on the opportunity instead of the pay at this stage. Good luck!
It's crazy. Once you're in the industry, it's so much easier to get another job.
